A solar cell is also known as photovoltaic cell and is a device that is basically used to convert the energy that is received from sun to the electrical energy with the help of photovoltaic effect. The energy that is received from sun is known as solar energy. This is the best and the most convenient way of gathering energy. In one day, sun usually emits almost 1,000 watts per square meter energy. If you use all energy in appropriate manner then it is possible to power our offices and homes with solar power. A number of solar cells, are merged together to construct a solar panel. Photovoltaic cells, that are solar cells do not need batteries and can be easily used in the equipments such as calculators.
It is possible to make these solar cells at home by following some easy steps.
Method No 1:
The items that are needed to construct a solar cell include transparent compact disk case, sodium bicarbonate, copper flashing, hot glue solder, sheet metal shears, and electric stove. You have to start the procedure by cutting metal sheet according to stove's burner size. Wash copper sheet with soap so that there should be no grease or oil on sheet. Place this cleaned sheet on burner. Be it there on it for almost 30 minutes. When the metal gets hotter and burner turned to red, you will observe the color of burner that is now black with a cupric oxide coating on metal. Then cool this metal by turning off the burner, but cool it slowly without changing its place because if it is cooled instantly then it can stick to the metal.
It is better to cool copper at room temperature. After the metal is cooled you will see the black oxide that was present now disappeared. Clean this metal by using scrub, cut one more metal and solder a small wire to each copper plate while insulating this soldering by glue. Also apply the glue to metal plate. Now seal the two plates while filling them with water and baking soda. Cooking salt can also be used. In this way you are successful in building your own solar cell and the last step of procedure is the presence of sunlight to test your solar cell.

Method No 2:
This method helps you to create a flat panel, portable solar cell. The first step of this method includes soldering the copper plate with an insulated copper wire. You have to cut a U shaped copper sheet small piece that is then soldered by using an insulated copper wire. Glue this U shaped plate with plastic sheet by using a silicon adhesive. It is better to use silicon glue in large quantity so that salt water does not leak out. Take care that the two plates don't touch each other, and now add some salt water with an eye dropper, and seal it with glue. The process is simply completed.
